The members of Soroptimist International of Illiana are from the south suburbs of Chicago and Northwest Indiana.

Our programs focus on transforming the lives of women and girls to help them realize the potential of their dreams through education, empowerment as well as the emotional and financial support they need to change their lives through cash grants for education, hands on efforts to end domestic violence, mentoring programs, women’s health initiatives and many other community-based projects.

In order to make a greater collective impact the club collaborates with other organizations such as Mumzy’s Children Relief Foundation, ANEW: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse assist victims of domestic violence, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Lambda Tau Omega Chapter, and Colin Powell Middle School, mentoring and celebrating girls.

Mumzy’s Children Relief Foundation is an organization that serves children & communities living in extremely poor African village. Soroptimist International of Illiana sponsors a school in Mbiede. We pay the salaries of three teachers, pay the tuition for 60+ girls, provide school uniforms, clothing, sanitary products, school supplies and educational materials for the girls. Built a toilet faculty and water well. Our efforts help to prevent forced early child marriage giving girls a bright future.

ANEW Building Beyond Violence and Abuse in Homewood, IL provides services for victims of domestic violence. SI-Illiana supports by donating gift cards, food, and other needed items for clients. SI-Illiana also sponsors community awareness programs and distribute Domestic Violence Prevention materials in the community.

Dream It Be It (DIBI) GIRLS AFTERSCHOOL MENTORING PROGRAM Consists of 7 th and 8 th grade girls sponsored by SI-Illiana. Designed to enhance the scope of possible career and personal choices for girls at risk through mentoring and educational activities.

AVRA B. ABBOTT EDUCATIONAL GRANT is a monetary educational award given to women who are working towards a bachelors, masters or doctoral degree.

LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARD is our signature program that assists women by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and job prospects.

DR. JUANITA P. BUTLER AWARD is a recognition program for a woman who helps other women and girls in their community to improve their lives.
