Soroptimist International of Bloomington-Normal, part of Soroptimist International of the Americas has been serving the Bloomington-Normal community since November 4th, 1987. Since the club’s founding, membership has expanded to include a diverse group of dynamic women committed to improving the lives of women and girls both locally and throughout the world.

HIGHLIGHTS OF CLUB'S ACTIVITIES

Gift Wrap for Charity –   Gift Wrap has been cancelled for 2020.  This wonderful annual event is held at Eastland Mall in Bloomington. Local members of our community volunteer together with Soroptimist members to wrap gifts at Christmas time. The money generated is then used to fund educational awards and other needs for local women.

Club 250 – This is a brilliant fundraising activity done by a few other clubs, and with declining results from gift wrap, we implemented this for 2019.  This fund raiser enables us to double our awards for Live Your Dream as well as Virginia Wagner.  We have also started a scholarship fund with a local college.

International Women’s Day Breakfast: Each year Soroptimist Bloomington-Normal partners with local groups to host and sponsor a breakfast with speakers sharing current issues for women today.  In addition to hearing from key note speakers, there is an opportunity to have table discussions, share with the larger group, and further build relationships in our community.

Dream It, Be It - We have leveraged the DIBI material to develop specialized programs over the last several years to help girls focus on their dreams and learn more on how to make their dreams come true.  Parts of our program have been shared with senior women in our community to help them to focus on the value of continued dreaming throughout your life.

Club meetings are regularly held the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 11:30 – 12:30pm. We also have a monthly working meeting on the 1st Monday of the month starting at 5:30pm.  The cost of attendance varies to cover the meals.
