The newly chartered SI Monroe's "S" Club experienced a very successful first year. The original club started with 44 members and quickly grew to nearly 100 by the end of 1st quarter. The girls are very motivated and have contributed a great deal of time organizing and holding fundraisers. They have raised funds for the club by selling "Live Your Dream" bracelets, helping out the Ida Civic Club and SI Monroe Club by selling and baking cookies and smores at the Ida Festival of Lights parade. They are volunteering at Mercy Memorial Hospital in the ER and OR and held a bake sale to raise money for their fellow "S" Club member who is a cancer survivor and has a Relay for Life team. The girls also volunteer once a month at Marion Place for Seniors and spend time playing games and just visiting with them. For "Make a Difference Day" in October they did a community clean up. In addition, they participated in a few SI Monroe events such as the "St. Michael's We Care" telethon by covering the pledge phones for a couple hours and also attended the annual SI Monroe "Celebration of Women" dinner and the "Membership Drive" meeting in January. The SI Monroe Club has recruited a couple "S" Club moms as new members. We encourage other clubs to charter and sponsor an "S" Club. It is so exciting to see the dedication and excitement of these young ladies as they learn the importance of giving back to their community and gaining valuable knowledge to become successful and professional women and leaders of the future!
